Welcome to the website of <span style="font-weight:bold">Gert Wörheide</span>of the <span style="font-weight:bold">Molecular Geo- & Palaeobiology Lab</span> of
the the <span style="font-weight:bold">Department of Geobiology of
the Geoscience Centre of the University of Göttingen</span>. Geobiology investigates the present and
past interactions between life and inanimate matter, the <span style="font-weight:bold">evolution</span>
of organisms, their complex interactions with the environment and the synergisms between
<span style="font-weight:bold">geosphere and biosphere</span>. The interaction between
<span style="font-weight:bold">geological and biological</span> events has shaped the Earth and its
<span style="font-weight:bold">biodiversity</span>. <span style="font-weight:bold">Studies</span> of
<span style="font-weight:bold">geobiology</span> promise to reveal the
secrets of life, its origin and <span style="font-weight:bold">evolution</span>, and its present functions
on our planet. In my <span style="font-weight:bold">lab</span>, we are
focussing on the <span style="font-weight:bold">biodiversity and evolution</span> of
<span style="font-weight:bold">marine invertebrates</span> and on the evolution of
<span style="font-weight:bold">biomineralisation</span>.</p>

My studies focus on <span style="font-weight:bold">Sponges, Coralline Sponges, Calcarea, Subclass
Calcinea, Subclass Calcaronea, Biomineralisation, Evolution, Phylogeny, Marine Biodiversity,
Phylogeography, Reef Check</span> and many more.</p>
