Molecular Geo- & Palaeobiology Lab
Study Trips

We regularly carry out field courses on the Geobiology und Biodiversity of Coral Reefs.
Our primary locations were for many years in the Red Sea (Egypt). However, due to the recent political uncertainties in the region we have recently moved our field course to MaRHE Center in the Maldives.

In 2019 we will conduct the course in northern Sulawesi (Indonesia), in cooperation with Sam Ratulangi University (Manado).

The emphasis of this study course is on learning about the geobiology and biodiversity of coral reefs, which are directly and easily accessible. The scientific programme of our courses involves intensive familiarization with the reef flora and faunas. Students carry out small research projects and also learn about marine conservation issues and local marine conservation efforts and strategies.
