Study Trip:
Geobiological Field Methods – Coral Reefs in the Red Sea
Mangrove Bay, Egypt.
2011, 2012

Mangrove Bay is located about 30km south of El Queseir on mainland Egypt. We will stay in Mangrove Bay Resort, one of the longest-operating resorts in the area. Mangrove Bay Resort is relatively small and has a very friendly atmosphere, it is mainly frequented by divers who enjoy the beautiful house reef with easy access from a jetty.

During the course we introduce students into coral reef biodiversity, ecology, and geobiology. We intensively snorkel the house reef to learn about corals, other invertebrates, fish, mangroves, reef donations, among other topics such as fossil reefs. Normally we do two boat trips to explore different habitats along the coast.
